The school was founded by Judith Lathbury and her mother in 1962, with the aim of teaching the art of dance in a friendly, happy and social environment. Judith is still the principal of the school to this day and is now assisted by her son Richard.
Sian Reeves
Actress Sian Reeves started dancing with The Lytton School of Dance when she was two years old. She went on to appear in the original west end cast of Les Misérables and has since appeared in Cutting it, Casualty, Emmerdale and Mount pleasant. Here’s what she has to say about the school.
I started dancing at the age of two with Judith Lathbury – they were the happiest 16 years of my life, I did Medals and Shows, and then Judith encouraged me to experiment and choreograph and teach. I ran the school when she gave birth to that lovely Richard, he’s quite good you know!!!!!
Happy happy times, and even if you don’t want to have a career in performing, my dancing gave me a chance to develop and be confident and find a different me from the girl at school.
Judith is such a lovely, generous person, what a fabulous start she gave me and hundreds of others.
I think anyone is lucky to have passed through Judith’s doors and you might find that little bit of glamour and glitter dust in yourself – how wonderful is that!
Keep dancing
